The Lugana District
MONTONALE VINEYARD
The Lugana District extends south of Lake Garda and includes a large area that starts from the municipalities of Desenzano and Lonato to the west and reaches as far as Peschiera and Pozzolengo in the east. This area is divided into two parts, one flat and one hilly: the Monteci vineyards are located on the flat part, characterised by soils of morainic origin, clayey and rich in minerals. The morainic origin of this territory dates to the Paleocene period, when Lake Garda suffered four glaciations that shaped the landscape, first holding back and then releasing large amounts of detritus. It is precisely the chemical-physical characteristics of the soil that add body and warmth, acidity and sapidity to the structural skeleton of the wine, as well as vigorous and clean bouquet, a mixture of almond and citrus, in the aromatic structure.
